Tasty Refried Beans image

Mash these 'refried' beans with bacon and top with cheddar for an easy way to make a classic Tex-Mex side. These Tasty 'Refried' Beans aren't even fried!

Yield 8 servings, 1/2 cup each

4 slices OSCAR MAYER Bacon, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
5 cups cooked dried pinto or black beans, drained, broth reserved
salt
1 cup KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Steps:

  • Cook bacon in skillet on medium heat until crisp. Add garlic; cook and stir 1 min.
  • Add beans, 1 cup at a time, mashing beans well after each addition. Reduce heat to medium-low; cook until bean mixture is consistency of a thick paste. If bean mixture is too dry, gradually stir in reserved bean broth until mixture is of desired consistency. Discard any remaining bean broth.
  • Season bean mixture with salt to taste; sprinkle with cheese.
