Taco Seasoning, homemade image

I felt like the taco seasoning was too salty so started buying the low sodium, but it was only available now and then..soooo... I decided to come up with my own version. I started with a list of what my favorite seasoning had in it, then started mixing, adjusting, adding different stuff, etc. This is not my final recipe but it is...

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 Tbsp chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp paprika
1 1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp chipotle chili powder for heat (optional)
1 tsp morton nature's season
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1 Tbsp knorr caldo de tomate or tomato bouillon
1/4 tsp ground coriander
1/4 tsp cilantro, dried
1 Tbsp onion flakes, dehydrated
1/2 tsp goya adobo all purpose seasoning
1/2 tsp badia complete seasoning

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all ingredients together and store in jar till ready to use. This is enough for 2 pounds of meat.
  • 2. To use: Brown ground beef, add the taco seasoning and 1/2 to 3/4 cup water and simmer till thick. I often do this around 2 and then put the seasoned meat in a crock pot and simmer it on low till dinner time, it really gives it a slow cooked flavor!
