2 lb red cabbage, cored and chopped medium
2 large granny smith apples sliced or any tart apple
2 medium onions, sliced thick
3/4-1 stick butter or margarine
1 c apple cider vinegar
3/4 c sugar or zero calorie sweetner
1/4 c water, more if you prefer less sour
salt as desired, i didn't use any

Steps:

  • 1. These are the main ingredients for this recipe.
  • 2. Wash and quarter cabbage first for easier chopping. Remove the core first then Shred each quarter. Slice the onions and the apples & set aside till needed.
  • 3. Add Butter to a large skillet and melt over low heat with sugar. Stir until butter melts. Then add in the onions and sliced apples & allow to cook about 10 minutes or until onions and apples begin to carmelize somewhat.
  • 4. Now add in the shredded cabbage and stir to mix with the apple and onion mixture. Add salt if desired.
  • 5. Continue to cook and cover with a lid until cabbage begin to wilt down, and water is extracted from cabbage. Now add in the apple cider vinegar, & 1/4 cup of water and stir, and continue cooking until cabbage are tender or as desired. Stir, serve & enjoy.
