Swedish Limpa Bread (ABM) image

A light rye bread, great toasted. Good with split pea soup. This is for my older bread machine which made a 1 lb. loaf. For newer, larger machines, you will have to adjust amounts.

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 1/8 c beer, room temperature (not stout or porter)
1 Tbsp oil
1 Tbsp honey
1 tsp granulated sugar
2 1/2 c white bread flour
1 c rye flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp caraway seeds
1/2 tsp anise seed
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
2 Tbsp grated orange zest
1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast

Steps:

  • 1. Place all ingredients in your bread machine in order recommended by manufacturer. Use regular (or medium) crust setting.
  • 2. *Alternately*, use the machine through the first rise and remove dough from machine. Place on a floured surface and shape to fit a loaf pan, or into a round or oblong for free-form loaf. Cover and let rise for 1 hour. Bake in 375F oven for 40-45 minutes.
