Steps:
- Melt butter and let cool. Beat eggs with 1 3/4 cup sugar. Add the flour and baking powder and finally the cooled butter. Batter will be thick. Pour half of the batter into a fairly large buttered springform pan (do not use one with center tube). Mix the cranberries with 3/4 cup sugar and distribute over top of batter. Pour the remaining batter on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 65 to 75 minutes. Use toothpick to test for doneness in the center. Toothpick should be dry. When cake has cooled, carefully release sides of pan. Do not try to remove cake from bottom of pan. Sift powdered sugar over the top and serve.
