SUGAR 'N' SPICE MUFFINS image

I found this recipe in an old cookbook. Very easy to make and very good to eat

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 c flour
1 c sugar
3/4 c cold butter or margarine
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
1 c buttermilk
1 egg,lightly beaten

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly.Set aside 1/2 cup for topping. Add baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves to remaining crumb mixture. Mix buttermilk and egg together, Stir into crumb mixture until just moistened.
  • 2. Fill greased or paper lined muffin tins 2/3 full. Sprinkle with reserved topping. Bake at 375* 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan.
  • 3. NOTE: You can use sour milk if you don't have buttermilk. Place 1 Tablespoon of white vinegar in a liquid measuring cup and add enough milk to make 1 cup. let stand 5 min.before using.
