Sue's Fresh Strawberry Pie image

This was my sweet mother-in-law's strawberry pie recipe. Before Alzheimer's took over, she was the BEST cook! I asked her once to show me how to make this pie, as it was her son's favorite & has since become my recipe to take to all the family functions. She may no longer remember, but I do! Hope you all enjoy the recipe as much as we do!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup(s) sugar
1 1/2 cup(s) water
3 tablespoon(s) cornstarch
1 box(es) strawberry jello
1 pint(s) strawberries, fresh
1 package(s) deep dish pie shell

Steps:

  • Bake pie crust according to package directions, let cool.
  • Combine cornstarch with water until smooth. In small saucepan mix cornstarch water & sugar. On medium heat bring to boil until mixture thickens. Remove from heat & add jello. Let cool 10-15 min
  • Dice strawberries & add to cooled pie shell. Pour filling over berries slowly, gently moving berries around. Refrigerate until set. Enjoy! *i don't always use all the filling... depends on the size of the berries. Just fill the pie shell to the top.
