Strawberry Squares image

This recipe is great for card clubs, womens club pot lucks and family gatherings or just a dessert at your home. I usually double the recipe, it taste like ice cream sundae. Do not leave sitting out, must be kept frozen. Delicious.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup(s) flour
1/4 cup(s) chopped nuts (walnuts)
1/4 cup(s) brown sugar
1 stick(s) butter or margarine
2/3 cup(s) sugar
2 - egg whites
10 ounce(s) frozen strawberry (thawed) or other fruit
1 large cool whip (lite can be used)

Steps:

  • Mix first four ingredients together with fork till crumb consistancy, bake on cookie sheet till nice light brown. stir occasionally while browning. Put 2/3 of crumbs into 9 x 12 cake pan. Set aside 1/3 of the crumbs for topping.
  • Beat together at high speed sugar, egg whites and fruit with juice till stands in peaks, remove and fold in 1 large tub cool whip (lite ) can be used also. Spread mixture over the cooled crumbs. Sprinkle some of the reserved crumbs on top. Freeze six hours. Serve frozen
