Strawberry Pretzel Salad image

Circa 1974, our family original. Can be used as a dessert, but sounds "healthier" as a "Salad":)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 1/2 cup(s) pretzels, coarsley chopped
3/4 cup(s) butter, melted
3 tablespoon(s) sugar
8 ounce(s) cream cheese
3/4 cup(s) sugar
2 cup(s) cool whip
1 package(s) strawberry jello, 6 oz.
2 cup(s) boiling water
2 package(s) frozen strawberries,sliced, 10 oz. packages

Steps:

  • Crust: Combine pretzels, butter and 3 Tablespoons sugar. Press into 10 x 15 ungreased pan. Bake 375 degrees for 10 minutes. COOL
  • Soften cream cheese and mix remaining sugar. Fold in cool whip. Spread over pretzel crust and chill.
  • Dissolve jello in boiling water. Add frozen strawberries and stir until melted. Chill. When jello is almost set, pour over cream cheese layer and chill.
