Stove Top Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken image

I don't eat chicken but my sister asked me to post this for her so she doesn't lose it. I found a few crock pot recipes for this, but the one she had was cooked on the stove top. I haven't tried it, but when she was cooking it, it smelled delicious and my son loved it. Enjoy!

Time 55m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup packed brown sugar
2/3 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup carbonated lemon-lime beverage
2 -3 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon pepper
1 (3 1/2-4 lb) broiler-fryer chickens, cut up

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients. Pour half into a large resealable zip-lock bag; add chicken. Seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate for 2 - 4 hours, turning once. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade.
  • Drain and discard marinade from chicken. Transfer chicken to a large skillet; add reserved marinade. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until chicken juices run clear.
  • Note: When my sister made this, she used 4 oz boneless skinless chicken breast and let it marinate overnight.
