This is one of my favorite side dishes. It is good with good ole southern food. I like to make it when I make chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes....fried pork chops and macaronni and cheese; you've got the idea...very comforting and old school.

Steps:
- 1. In a heavy bottom pot, heat oil
- 2. Add the onion and garlic; sauté until tender, about 3 minutes.
- 3. Add the okra and tomatoes, salt and pepper.
- 4. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- 5. Note: If needed, add water or chicken stock if the pot becomes too dry.
