1 1/2 quarts water
1 (14 ounce) can chicken broth
1 lb dried split peas
1 1/2 cups cubed lean ham
1 1/2 cups chopped onions
1 cup chopped carrot
1/2 cup sliced celery
1 -2 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
1 teaspoon dried marjoram

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 4-6 hours.
  • Variation: make soup as above, except omit ham and add ½ cup pearl barley. Increase water to 2 quarts.
