SPICY MARINATED SHRIMP (MOM'S) image

2 lb cooked fresh shrimp, peeled with tail left on
1 lg red onion, thinly sliced
2 lg lemons, sliced
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup wine vinegar
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1 garlic clove, halved
1 bay leaf
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp leaf basil, crumbled
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
3 or 4 whole allspice

Steps:

  • Layer shrimp, red onion, and lemon slices in a medium-size bowl. Combine oil, vinegar, lemon juice, garlic, bay leaf, dry mustard, basil, salt, pepper, and allspice in a jar with a tight fitting lid; cover; shake thoroughly. Pour marinade over shrimp; toss gently. Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight, tossing occasionally. Serve with decorative food picks and garnish with parsley sprigs. Serves 8
