Southern Cream Cookies Recipe - (4/5) image

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 Cup shortening
2 cups sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sour cream or sour milk
5 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups walnuts, chopped
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • Cream shortening and 2 cups sugar; add eggs, vanilla extract, and sour cream; mix well. Add flour sifted with salt, baking powder,and soda. Add nuts. Drop form tsps onto cookie sheets. Grease bottom of small glass; dip into mixed sugar and cinnamon; press cookie flat. Bake in moderate oven (350F) for 15 minutes.
