Sour Cream and Onion Burger image

We have been experimenting with cast iron skillet burgers recently as we wait for our new grill to be deliver. There is just something about the weather warming up that puts you in the mood for a juicy burger and these Sour Cream and Onion Burgers are the juiciest. If you haven't tried our Farmers Market Turkey Burger, it's a must. Another goodie for this time of year is our Pesto Turkey Burgers. All of these burgers are filling, rich with flavor, and most important, JUICY!...

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 lbs ground turkey or ground beef
1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
½ cup sour cream
2 tbsp minced chives
1 tsp cayenne
3-4 tbsp panko bread crumbs
⅓ cup sour cream
1 tsp lime juice
1 tsp adobo sauce
1 chili in adobo sauce minced
¼ tsp salt
4-6 burger buns

Steps:

  • Begin making these Sour Cream and Onion Burgers by mixing together all of your burger patty ingredients into a large mixing bow. Add the ground turkey or ground beef, sour cream, Lipton onion soup mix, minced chives, cayenne, and panko bread crumbs into a bowl and mix so everything is combined.
  • Cover the bowl and let sit in the fridge for about 15 minutes so the onion soup mix is absorbed into the mixture.
  • In the mean time, combine the sour cream topping ingredients into a bowl and mix well. Set aside to let the flavors combine.
  • Remove burger mixture from the fridge and make into patties, typically this makes about 4-5 burgers.
  • In a large frying pan or cast iron skillet heat to medium. Add about 3 tablespoons of oil to the bottom of the pan and let it come to heat. Place your patties on the pan and cook. Be sure to not over crowd your pan so the burgers cook evenly.
  • After about 3-4 minutes flip your patties and let cook. If you are using ground beef, let cook until internal temperature of your liking, 160 degrees is a medium temperature. If you are using ground turkey, cook until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
  • Remove the burgers from the pan and place on a paper bag or directly onto your burger buns. Top the burgers with your sour cream topping and enjoy! We like to add some jalapeños and pickles to our burgers.
