Snickerdoodle Cookies Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup soft shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups gold medal flour
2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly. Measure flour by sifting. Blend all dry ingredients; gradually add flour mixture; mix well. Heat oven to 400˚F. Roll into balls the size of walnuts. Roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoon cinnamon. At Christmas time I use 2 tablespoons of colored sugar with 2 teaspoon cinnamon. Place 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out.
