Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce image

Great for an easy dinner after the game. Put it on in the morning and have a hearty meal waiting. Just cook your favorite pasta and serve with steamed veggies or a green salad and hot garlic bread.

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 lb ground turkey (or ground beef)
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
8 oz sliced mushrooms (fresh)
1 can(s) (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
1 can(s) (6 oz) tomato paste
2 can(s) (15 oz each) tomato sauce
2 clove garlic, minced
1 bay leaf
2 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried rosemary, crushed
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp salt
1/2 c basil pesto (jarred or homemade)
1/2 c dry red wine

Steps:

  • 1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground turkey and drain well. Transfer to slow cooker. In same pan, add oil and saute onion and mushrooms until onions are softened and mushrooms have started to give up their liquid. Transfer to slow cooker with meat.
  • 2. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
  • 3. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • 4. Serve over your favorite cooked pasta and sprinkle with grated parmesan, if desired.
