Shanna's Birthday Cake (Turtle Cake) image

Number Of Ingredients 6

3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 (14-ounce) package caramels
1/2 can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
1 package German chocolate cake mix
2 cups chopped nuts, divided
1 cup chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Melt butter, caramels, and condensed milk over low heat and set aside. Mix cake as directed on package. Pour half of batter into greased 9x13-inch pan. Bake 15 minutes at 350°. Pour caramel mixture over baked cake. Add 1 cup nuts and chocolate chips. Pour rest of batter over this and sprinkle remaining 1 cup nuts on top. Bake for an additional 20 minutes.
