School Cafeteria Mac and Cheese Recipe | CDKitchen.com image

Having some nostalgia for your school lunch days? Cheesy, buttery macaroni baked to perfection, topped with extra cheese and a crunchy topping.

Number Of Ingredients 7

8 ounces macaroni pasta, cooked and drained
1/4 cup butter
2 1/4 cups Cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
black pepper, to taste
buttered bread crumbs or crumbled potato chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Cook macaroni 5 to 8 minutes in boiling salted water, just until tender. Drain. Stir butter into noodles. Add 2 cups Cheddar cheese, milk, salt, pepper and pour into a 2-quart casserole. Bake 30 minutes until cheese is well set. Sprinkle remaining Cheddar cheese and crumbs or chips over top.
