Scalloped Potatoes image

Scalloped potatoes always bring a special Addition to any dinner, they expecially complement a Ham or a Meat Loaf, on a cold winters night. Our family enjoys this special treat and so have many guests over the years.

Number Of Ingredients 9

6 -8 large potatoes, Peeled and sliced thin
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
10 -12 saltine crackers, crushed
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine, cut into chunk
salt
pepper
4 cups whole milk
4 slices raw bacon

Steps:

  • In a Casserole Dish Layer the ingredients, using some of each ingredient except the milk and bacon,. Repeat these steps until your dish is full to within 1 inch of the top. Once full Pour Milk over all until just covering the potatoes. Place bacon strips across the top of the potatoes.
  • Place on Middle oven rack and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
  • Place a pan or foil on the bottom of the oven in case of boil over.
  • Let stand for 10 minutes before serving to allow potatoes to thicken a little more before serving.
