Savory Cheese Puffs- Mom's recipe image

This recipe makes a delicious appetizer or snack. Its not hard to make and well worth the effort. Ths basic recipe is similar to a cream puff shell but with the addition of cheese and onion it is a savory appetizer. The outside is crispy and the inside is creamy cheesy and oniony. Yum... Number Of Ingredients 10

1 c water
1/3 c butter
1 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper (or to taste)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
4 large eggs
3/4 c shredded swiss cheese (this is about 4 ounces)
1/4 c finely chopped onion
2 Tbsp chopped parsley

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet lightly. Heat water and margarine to rolling boil in a heavy saucepan. Stir in flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Stir vigorously over low heat for about 1 minute or until mixture forms a ball. Remove from heat. Beat in eggs, all at once, with a hand mixer, until smooth. Stir in cheese, onion, and parsley.
  • 2. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls about 1 inch apart onto prepared cookie sheet. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until these are puffed and golden. Serve warm.
