- In a large skillet, bring 1 in. of water to a boil. Carefully add the salmon. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until fish just begins to flake easily with a fork, 5-10 minutes., Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, heat the butter; cook and stir the onions until tender, 5-10 minutes. Stir in flour until blended; gradually add milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir until thickened, 1-2 minutes. Reduce heat to low. Stir in the peas, sour cream and seasonings; heat until warmed through. Serve over salmon.
