Ron's Kraut with Pork image

This recipe was given to me by a dear friend who is no longer with us. I'm pretty sure this is an authentic Polish recipe. You can make a meal of it or serve as a side.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lg. can(s) saurkraut, drained
1 - carrot, diced
1 - potato, diced
1 - onion, diced
1 teaspoon(s) sugar
1 - pork shank (or 6 meaty country ribs)
6 - polish sausage or rope sausage

Steps:

  • Put sauerkraut, carrot, potato, sugar and onion in Nesco roaster. Add some water and cook until tender.
  • Meanwhile, boil (simmer) meat for 1/2 hour.
  • Add meat to sauerkraut and cook at 300 degrees until meat is very tender.
  • Note: Prep time includes waiting for vegetables and meat to cook prior to assembly.
