Rhubarb Torte image

When ever I bring this dish to parties or a get together I'm always asked for the recipe. It's fantastic! I suggest making this for the spring because that's when rhubarb is in season.

Number Of Ingredients 15

first layer
1 c flour
2 Tbsp sugar
pinch salt
1/2 c butter
second layer
1 c sugar
2 Tbsp all purpose flour
1/3 c milk
21/2 c cut rhubarb
3 egg yolks
third layer
3 egg whites
5 Tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp cream of tartar

Steps:

  • 1. First layer; Combine ingredients and press in 8 by 10 inch pan.Bake at 325 degrades for 20 minutes.
  • 2. Second layer; Cook until thick:pour over baked crust.
  • 3. Third layer; Beat egg whites,sugar and cream of tartar.Spread on top of cooked rhubarb mixture.Brown in 325 degrades preheat oven for 15 minutes.
