This is one of my all-time favorite recipes. It is also a good recipe to start young children to help making.

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 qt whole "store-bought" dill pickles
2 1/2 c white sugar
2 Tbsp cider vinegar
2 medium onions

Steps:

  • 1. Slice the "store-bought" pickles and onions very thin.
  • 2. Mix the sugar and vinegar with the original juice from the "store-bought" pickles to make a new brine.
  • 3. Put the thinly-sliced pickles and onions back into the pickle jar.
  • 4. Pour the new brine over the pickle and onion slices in the jar.
  • 5. Let stand at least 24 hours. Turn or flip the jar as needed so as to keep the sugar mixed throughout.
