Quick & Easy Monkey Bread image

Monkey bread, also called sticky bread, African coffee cake, golden crown, pinch-me cake, bubbleloaf and monkey brains is a sticky, gooey pastry served for breakfast.

1/2 c sugar, granulated
1 tsp cinnamon
2 can(s) pillsbury® grands!® homestyle refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (16.3 oz each)
1/2 c walnuts, chopped
1/2 c raisins
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 c butter or margarine melted

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease 12-cup fluted tube pan with shortening or cooking spray.
  • 2. In large -storage plastic food bag, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  • 3. Separate dough into 16 biscuits; cut each into quarters.
  • 4. Shake in bag to coat.
  • 5. Arrange in pan, adding walnuts and raisins among the biscuit pieces.
  • 6. In small bowl, mix brown sugar and butter.
  • 7. Pour sugar/butter mixture over biscuit pieces.
  • 8. Bake 28 to 32 minutes or until golden brown and no longer doughy in center. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Turn upside down onto serving plate; pull apart to serve. Serve warm.
