Crust and Topping mixture:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup lard
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
Add 1 teaspoon vanilla
All mixture to 2 cups oatmeal and 2 cups flour. Separate some for topping.
Filling: 1/2 cup nuts (walnuts or pecans)
1 pound prunes
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water. Cook this on stove til thick.

Steps:

  • place crust mixture (not all as some is for topping as well) in a 9 x 12 pan, building up the sides. Add filling (do not spread filling but "plop" large spoonfuls in pan. Then sprinkle more of the crust/topping mixture on "plops." Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes. Serve warm with fresh whipped cream.
