- Cook potatoes until done and let cool. Peal potatoes and cut into slices. I use an egg slicer to get the potatoes uniform. Dice celery stalks and add to potatoes. Combine vinegar, sugar, salt and celery seed in a small bowl and mix until sugar dissolves. Then pour over potatoes, add mayonnaise and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well and refrigerate.
