Potato Filling image

A traditional family Thanksgiving recipe ... Different from other stuffing recipes since it uses both potato and bread cubes.

Number Of Ingredients 13

3 c cooked, cubed potatoes
1 pkg turkey or chicken stove-top stuffing, prepared according to package directions
1 onion, chopped
1 1/2 c celery, sliced
2 Tbsp margarine
1/2 c water
5 c soft bread cubes
1 14.5 oz. can(s) chicken or turkey broth
1 tsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
dash celery salt
salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Cube and cook potatoes.
  • 2. Make Stove-Top Stuffing, according to package directions. (ingredients are not listed above)
  • 3. Place onion, celery, margarine and 1/2 cup water in microwave dish, with lid. Cover and cook until celery is just soft, about 10 to 12 minutes. (Can also sauté on stovetop.)
  • 4. Stir together prepared stuffing, potatoes, and celery/onion mixture. Stir in the rest of the ingredients.
  • 5. Turn into a sprayed 2-qt. casserole dish. Cover and bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Remove cover during last 15 minutes of baking.
  • 6. Can be made a day in advance and refrigerated. Bake for 1 1/2 hours if cold.
