Pork neckbones image

When I met my fiancé, He introduced me to neck bones. I looked this southern comfort food up on the internet and found there weren't very many recipes for it. The one I found is very good. If you have ever wondered how to cook them. Here is a pretty good recipe for them.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 1/2 lb fresh pork neckbones
2 Tbsp canola oil
1 Tbsp garlic powder
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
6 c water
1 onion,sliced
1/2 bunch green onions, chopped (about 4)

Steps:

  • 1. Brown the neck bones in the oil. When browned, remove the neck bones to a stockpot. Put the onions in the skillet with the oil. Sauté till browned a little.
  • 2. Add water and the onions to the neck bones and bring this to a boil, add the seasonings. Reduce the heat to a slow simmer.
  • 3. Cover the pot with a lid. Simmer on low for 1 1/2 hours.
  • 4. you can add rice and simmer 15 minutes more. I cook my rice on the side. and pour the juices over the rice.
