Poor Man's Beef Wellington image

Learn how to cook beef wellington on a budget with this recipe. This beef wellington easy recipe uses ground beef instead of tenderloin & has a crescent roll crust instead of puff pastry. Add broccoli & you've got a meal fit for a king!

1 pound(s) ground beef
1 package(s) broccoli, frozen, thawed
1 cup(s) mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup(s) onion, chopped
1/2 cup(s) sour cream
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt & pepper
2 can(s) pillsbury crescent rolls
1 large egg, beaten
- poppy seeds

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • In medium skillet, brown meat; drain well. Add broccoli, cheese, onion, sour cream, salt & pepper; mix well. Simmer 10 minutes.
  • Separate dough into 4 long rectangles. On ungreased cookie sheet, overlap long sides of 2 rectangles 1/2". Firmly press edges & perforations to seal.
  • Press or roll to form a 13 x 7" rectangle. Spoon 1/2 of mixture onto dough lengthwise. Bring long edges of dough rectangle over filling, overlapping edges slightly; pinch edge & ends to seal. Repeat with remaining dough.
  • Brush with egg; sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake for 18 - 22 minutes or until deep golden brown.
