Picadillo image

I put several recipes together to make one that i liked. I know it is not the true Cuban picadillo, but my family loves this recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 22

2 medium red or sweet onion very finely chopped
4-6 clove garlic
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp oregano
1 tsp coriander
4 large russet potatoes
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1/2 Tbsp ground pepper
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1 Tbsp vinegar
3 vine ripe tomatoes
1/2 c green olives stuffed w/ pimentos
1/2 tsp worcester sauce
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/3 c raisins
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1-2 bay leaves
1/4 c dry sherry
1/2 boullion cube
1 tsp larry's garlic salt
2 Tbsp olive oil

Steps:

  • 1. Put olive oil in skillet and light brown onions. Then add peppers and brown some more. Add very fine cubed potatoes.
  • 2. In the meantime brown ground beef in another skillet. Once lightly browned, drain fat and break in little pieces. Once it is complete add to onions, peppers and potatoes. Add all dry spices, bouillon, bay leaves and stir well. Stir in vinegar and sherry. Add tomato, olives, raisins, and Worcester sauce
  • 3. Keep on cooking until potatoes are cooked and the whole dish is browned.
