Penne with Creamy Vodka Sauce image

It doesn't get much quicker or simple than this when it comes to getting dinner on the table fast. This is a family favorite and is perfect when you want a light meal that is full of flavor and filling.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1-16 oz box penne pasta
2-15 oz can(s) tomato sauce
1/2 c vodka
1 c heavy cream
1/2 c grated pecorino romano or parmesan cheese
salt and coarsely ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Cook the penne according to the package directions, drain and keep warm.
  • 2. Combine the tomato sauce and vodka in a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
  • 3. Decrease the heat to low and stir in the cream. Simmer for 1 minute to heat through.
  • 4. Add the cooked penne and the cheese and cook for 1 minute to heat through. Remove from the heat and season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
