Peanut Butter Candy image

This is our family's favorite candy recipe. It was given to me many years ago by a friend when we went on a bus trip to Branson, Missouri. She had made the fudge and brought it with her. It's just out of this world. I like it best with pecans or walnuts in it, but you can do what you choose. Enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 cup(s) sugar
3/4 cup(s) margarine or butter
1/8 teaspoon(s) salt
2/3 cup(s) small can evaporated milk
1 cup(s) peanut butter, i use smooth
1 jar(s) 7 oz of marshmallow creme
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
1 cup(s) peacans or walnuts if desired

Steps:

  • Butter the pan that the fudge will be cooked in, as well as a 9X13 inch pan.
  • Bring first 4 ingredients to a full rolling boil that cannot be stirred down.
  • Immediately reduce the heat to medium so there's a steady boil.
  • Cook 5 minutes stirring constantly.
  • Remove from heat and add the marshmallow creme, peanut butter, and vanilla. Add nuts if desired.
  • Stir well until the candy starts to set a little bit, and then put it in the buttered 9x13 inch pan. When completely cooled, cut into pieces. I store it in the fridge in a tupperware box.
