Original Classic Kahlua Pecan Pie image

I obtained this recipe from a recipe booklet that was offered by the Kahlua company back in the 80's. It really tastes great. I added the coffee extract for a slightly different taste, and it was definitely a hit!

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 package(s) pastry pie crust
1/4 cup(s) butter
3/4 cup(s) white sugar
2 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
1 teaspoon(s) coffee extract (optional)
2 teaspoon(s) flour
3 large eggs, well beaten
1/2 cup(s) kahlua liqueur
1/2 cup(s) dark corn syrup
3/4 cup(s) evaporated or condensed milk
1 cup(s) pecans, whole or chopped
1 - (optional) whipped cream and pecan halves

Steps:

  • NOTE: Evaporated milk is less sweet than condensed milk, so it's personal preference as to how sweet you want your pie to be. I've made it both ways, and it came out well regardless -- just had a slightly different taste to it.
  • Line a 9" pie pan with favorite pastry recipe or store-bought, and chill. Preheat oven to 400 deg F.
  • CREAM TOGETHER: butter, sugar, extract(s), and flour.
  • STIR in Kahlua, corn syrup, evaporated OR condensed milk, and pecans. Mix well and pour into pie pan.
  • BAKE for 10 minutes at 400 deg F, then DECREASE HEAT to 325 deg F for 40 min (until pie is firm).
  • Chill. Garnish with pecan halves on top and whipped cream if desired.
