1 stick butter, softened,equals 1/2 cup.
1 c sugar: half granulated cane sugar and light brown sugar.
2 large eggs
2/3 c buttermilk
2 c flour
1 pinch salt
1 Tbsp zest of an orange
1 c golden raisins
1/2 c chopped pecans
TOPPING TO BE ADDED TO WARM BAKED BREAD:
1 c sugar
1/2 c fresh orange juice
2 Tbsp zest of orange

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees; grease and flour a 9 X 5 loaf pan.
  • 2. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs one at a time and beat. Alternately, add buttermilik and flour. Stir in salt, orange zest and raisins and pecans.
  • 3. Place batter in loaf pan and bake one hour. Remove from the oven and poke holes in the bread.
  • 4. While bread is baking combine the topping ingredients and stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Pour over the bread while it is hot out of the oven.
