OLD FASHIONED WALNUT CAKE image

2 3/4 cups sifted cake flour
2 teas baking powder
1 teas salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 3/4 cups sugar
4 eggs
2/3 cup milk
2 teas vanilla
2 cups finely chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Grease and flour 9 inch tube or Bundt pan. Sift flour, baking powder and salt onto wax paper. Preheat oven to 350. Beat butter, sugar, and eggs in a large bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 min. By hand, stir in dry ingredients alternately with milk, beating after each addition until batter is smooth. Stir in vanilla and 1 cup of the nuts. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake @ 350 for 1 hr. BROWN BUTTER FROSTING 1/2 CUP BUTTER 1 PACKAGE 10X SUGAR 1/4 CUP MILK Heat butter over low heat in medium saucepan. Remove from heat once liquid bubbles. Pour browned butter over 10x sugar in a large bowl. Drizzle milk over, blend until smooth. Add 1 to 2 teas milk if needed, to make smooth and spreadable.
