OKTOBERFEST SIZZLERS image

This is an old recipe from Hillshire Farms that I recently rediscovered. It would be great for tailgate parties, indoors or out.

Number Of Ingredients 5

6 - smoked sausage or polska kielbasa links
4 ounce(s) muenster cheese, shredded
1 cup(s) sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
6 slice(s) bacon, partially cooked
2 ounce(s) muenster cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Split sausages lengthwise, 3/4 through. Fill each sausage piece with mixture of 2 TB shredded muenster cheese and 1 TB sauerkraut.
  • Wrap each sausage with bacon; secure with a toothpick.
  • Grill or broil (4 inches from heat) until thoroughly heated and bacon is fully cooked. Garnish with additional cheese.
  • NOTE: I prefer to use Stokely's Traditional Bavarian Style Sauerkraut because I love the caraway seeds!
