Oatmeal Harvest Cake image

Number Of Ingredients 18

1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 1/3 cups flour
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
------------------------------
Crumb Topping:
2 tablespoons soft butter
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons white sugar
4 - 6 chopped Heath candy bars
3 chopped Hershey candy bars
1/2 cup nuts

Steps:

  • Pour boiling water over oatmeal. Let stand 20 minutes. Cream shortening, and sugars. Add eggs. Then add flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Pour into greased 9x13-inch pan. Crumb Topping: Crumble together butter, sugars, chopped candy bars, and nuts. Sprinkle on top of cake mixture. Bake 30 minutes at 350°.
