Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake image

Most pantries have the ingredients needed for this quick and easy cake! No frosting needed!

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 3/4 c water, boiling
1 c quick cooking oats
1 c brown sugar, packed
1 c sugar
1/2 c butter, softened
3 eggs
1 3/4 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking cocoa
1/4 tsp salt
1 12 ounce pkg chocolate chips, divided
3/4 c walnuts, chopped

Steps:

  • 1. In a mixing bowl, pour water over oatmeal. Allow to stand 10 minutes. Add sugars and butter, mixing until all is blended well. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • 2. Sift flour, soda, cocoa and salt together. Add to batter. Mix well. Stir in half the chocolate chips.
  • 3. Pour into a greased 13 x 9 inch x 2 inch baking pan. Sprinkle top of cake with walnuts and remaining chips. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 - 40 min. or until pick comes out clean.
