Not Derby Pie image

Found this on Facebook and just had to share it. Looks like a Diabetic coma to me but you never know I just might give it a try.From what I can understand by reading the article the reason it's called "Not Derby Pie " is because the recipe and name for "Derby Pie" is trademarked so they had to make minor changes in the recipe and the name.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 - 8- or 9-inch unbaked piecrust
1 cup(s) semisweet chocolate chips
2 - large eggs , lightly beaten
1 cup(s) sugar
1/2 cup(s) flour
8 tablespoon(s) (1 stick) butter, melted and cooled
1 cup(s) walnuts, coarsely ground
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
- whipped cream for garnish, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Have an 8- or 9-inch pie plate at hand.
  • Place the unbaked pie shell in the pie plate. Sprinkle the bottom of the pie shell evenly with chocolate chips.
  • Whisk together the eggs, sugar and flour in a mixing bowl.
  • Gradually mix in the melted butter, then add the nuts and vanilla.
  • Carefully pour the mixture over the chocolate chips, in a circular motion so it does not disturb the chips.
  • Bake for 1 hour, until the filling is set.
  • Serve slightly warm, with whipped cream if desired.
