Number Of Ingredients 9

6 cooking apples, peeled and sliced (*see note)
2/3 cup sugar
1 teasp. ground cinnamon
3 tablesp. butter
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
pinch salt
garnish: vanilla ice cream, or reddi wip, or cool whip

Steps:

  • 1. Butter one (9-inch) pie plate.
  • 2. Pile sliced apples in the pie plate.
  • 3. Sprinkle the 2/3 cup of sugar over the apples.
  • 4. Sprinkle the cinnamon over the sugar/apples.
  • 5. Top the pie with pats of butter, with the 3 tablespoons of butter.
  • 6. Heat oven to 325 degrees.
  • 7. Combine together, the 1/2 cup of butter, dark brown sugar, flour and salt. (I just use my fingers to thoroughly mix these ingredients together.)
  • 8. Press the crumbly mixture firmly over the apples.
  • 9. Place your pie plate filled with apples (and topped with crumbly crust), onto a large pizza tin, so any juice from the apples will drip onto the pizza tin.
  • 10. Bake pie in oven for 45 minutes.
  • 11. Cool pie slightly, or completely, before eating.
  • 12. Serve pie with vanilla ice cream, or with Reddi Wip, or Cool Whip.
  • 13. *Note: The apples I used to make this pie were, McIntosh Apples.
