Nano's Apple Raisin Crumble image

I used Gala apples in this recipe. It is so good served warm out of the oven, or even chilled. This recipe can be halved.

FRUIT FILLING
3 lb firm apples (8-10), cut in chunks
1/2 c raisins
1 tsp lime juice
2 Tbsp apple juice, or cider
1/2 c granulated sugar
1/4 c all purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground allspice
pinch salt
CRUMBLE
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
3/4 c granulated sugar
3/4 c light brown sugar
1 c old-fashion oatmeal
2 stick cold butter, cubed

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Prepare a 9 x 12 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  • 2. In a large bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, salt, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Set aside. Core and peel all the apples and cut them into chunks. Add apples, raisins, lime juice, and apple juice. Toss all to combine. Add to the prepared baking dish.
  • 3. In a bowl combine flour, sugars, salt, oatmeal and cubed cold butter. Cut in cold butter and mix together until the mixture resembles large pebbles. Cover the fruit mixture with crumble in an even layer.
  • 4. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the crumble is golden and the fruit is bubbling.
