MRS. WARNICK'S CHOCOLATE SPONGE CAKE image

1 baked spongecake (passover)
filling:
1 pound elite bittersweet chocolate, melted and cooled
6 TBS sugar
6 TBS cold water
8 eggs, separated

Steps:

  • cut spongecake in diagonal slices and put on bottom of greased springform (10") pan.Layer cake with filling. to make filling: beat egg whites with a little of the sugar. set aside. beat egg yolks and add sugar, water and melted chocolate. Fold in egg whites. layer with sponge cake in springform pan and refrigerate overnight
