Mom's Golden Macaroni image

I first had this at my in-laws house when my husband and I first started dating. I loved it the first time I tasted it, probably because the sauce is actually condensed tomato soup which was always a favorite. It's quite easy to make and is done in no time. BUT, to this day, I don't know why my mother-in-law called it GOLDEN...

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 Tbsp olive oil
1 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 c diced green bell pepper
1/2 c diced onion
1 tsp minced garlic
1 1/2 c elbow macaroni, cooked as directed on package
1 can(s) (10 3/4 ounce) condensed tomato soup, undiluted
2 - 3 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 to 3/4 c grated sharp cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Place a Dutch oven over medium/high heat. Add the olive oil and ground beef. Cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring often to break apart meat, until no longer pink.
  • 2. Add the green pepper, onion and minced garlic. Cook another 3-4 minutes, stirring often, until onions start to soften.
  • 3. Add the cooked macaroni, condensed soup and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.
  • 4. Cook another 3-4 minutes until heated through.
  • 5. Sprinkle top with grated cheese, if desired.
