MOM'S GOLDEN CRESCENTS image

Yield 32 rolls

2 pkg active dry yeast
3/4 cup warm water
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter
4 cups all-purpose flour
soft butter

Steps:

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in sugar, salt, eggs, shortening, butter and 2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Mix in remaining flour until smooth. Scrap dough from side of bowl; cover and let rise in warm place until double, about 1 1/2 hours. Divide dough in half; roll each half into a 12 inch circle. Spread with butter. Cut dought into 16 wedges. Roll each wedge, starting from the wide edge and rolling toward the point. Place rolls with the point side down on a greased baking sheet. cover and let rise until double, about 1 hour. Heat oven to 400 degrees and bake 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden. Brush with butter.
