MOM'S BEAN SOUP image

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 Package of dry navy beans
2 tsp. baking soda
Ham soup stock (dry in a jar) Enough to make 4 quarts of stock.
1 cup of diced ham
3 sliced carrots
3 sliced celery stalks
1 finely chopped onion
1/2 -3/4 cup of uncooked rice (any kind except Minute rice - never use that crap in anything)

Steps:

  • Soak beans overnight in water Next day rinse & put them in a pan with clean water and bring to a boil Add of baking soda & boil for about 2 minutes Rinse really well ( about five times in cold water) Add to stock: ham cooked and cleaned beans carrots celery onion rice
