MOM'S BAKED ZITI image

Yield Makes 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 lb. ziti or penne
Enough sauce for 1 to 1 1/2 lbs. pasta
1 lb. mozzarella, cut into small cubes
Grated parmesan cheese, to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Meanwhile, cook the pasta for about 2 minutes less than the package directs, and drain. (It should be very al dente.) Cover the bottom of a baking dish or casserole (about 9 x 13 inches) with sauce. Cover the sauce with a layer of ziti, then a layer of mozzarella cubes, and a little grated parmesan, if desired. Continue layering sauce, pasta, and cheese until all the pasta and cheese are used up. Top with an extra layer of sauce and grated parmesan. Cover with foil and bake for about 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake uncovered for about 15 minutes more.
