MOMMA'S CHILI image

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 large onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 lbs. ground beef or turkey
2 15-oz. cans chopped tomatoes
2 10 1/2 oz. cans tomato soup
2 15 oz. cans kidney beans, undrained
2-4 cups beef broth
1/2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
4 Tbls. chili powder
1 t. each cinnamon, ground allspice and cumin
1/4 t. ground cloves
1/4 t. cayanne pepper
1 bay leaf
2 Tbls. cider vinegar

Steps:

  • In large dutch oven or heavy metal pot, brown the meat. Drain the grease and then add the onions and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients (start with 2 cups of beef broth) and barely simmer, uncovered, for 1-3 hours. Add more beef broth and cover if it becomes too thick. You want a soupy consistency. Serve over cooked speghetti noodles, passing shredded cheddar cheese, chopped scallions, sour cream and crackers or tortilla chips.
