Mixed Berry Milk for Drinking or Cereal (Non-Dairy) image

I love fruit on my cereal, but I don't indulge in it often enough, so here I created a recipe to pour over cereal that contained both the milk and the berries, but is just great from a glass, as well. Strawberry milk is a second fave to chocolate milk, but the ingredients in this berry milk are more common in my kitchen than strawberry syrup, so I compromised w/frozen mixed berries and unsweetened soy milk. It's a different texture than what you'd get using strawberry syrup, and healthier, too. I also have IBS, which means I'm not supposed to eat dairy. This is great on Shredded Wheat, I just made this this morning and am eating it now. :) This is supposed to be thicker than milk (due to the frozen fruit), but thinner than a smoothie, but you can certainly make this into a smoothie w/the addition of some soy yogurt, flavored or plain.

Time 2m

Yield 1-2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

1/2-3/4 cup frozen mixed berries (I used a mix of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries)
1 cup unsweetened soymilk (I use Silk brand)
honey (to taste)

Steps:

  • Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth, adding honey to taste. Add any extra milk or berries as desired; I used 1/2 cup of berries to 1 cup soy milk for a more subtle berry flavor, and I thought it made a good consistency and taste for both drinking and eating on top of cereal.
